At Schott Mauss and Associates, they find attorneys who treat them with respect and individual attention. Our team of experienced attorneys and legal assistants work every day to provide skilled advocacy for individuals who are forced to deal with the medical, economic, and social hardships that accompany injuries or disabling health conditions.
In addition to helping individual clients win their cases, the attorneys at Schott Mauss and Associates also engage in education and scholarship to improve the law and strengthen individual rights. For example, the firm took a leadership role in establishing the now-annual 8th Circuit Conference on Social Security Law. The firm's attorneys are frequent lecturers at similar conferences, at both the state and national level.
The firm's founder, Max Schott, was a charter member of the Iowa Workers' Compensation Core Group in 1998. Mr. Schott was formally inducted into the national College of Workers' Compensation Lawyers in 2010 in recognition his "long and distinguished career." In 2009, the National Association of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSCCR) presented Mr. Schott with the Eileen P. Sweeney Distinguished Service Award for his contribution towards ensuring "the availability of advocacy for Social Security claimants." Mr. Schott is presently serving the president of the Iowa Association of Workers' Compensation Lawyers (IWAC); and he has been an officer of that organization since 2006.
The firm's President and Owner, Jean Mauss, joined the firm in 1999 and assumed a leadership role in its Social Security Disability Law Department. In 2005, she left the firm to join Roxanne Conlin as a member of her litigation team for the successful class action suit against Microsoft Corporation. In July of 2009, Ms. Mauss purchased the firm from Mr. Schott. In her practice of law, Ms. Mauss advocates for both workers' compensation and Social Security disability clients. Mr. Schott continues to serve the firm in an advisory capacity, as well as client advocacy. |
